He was also banned from Maryland’s school board. He was kicked out of 13 schools and wasn’t allowed to get back into the Pennsylvania school system. Growing up, he ran away from home dozens of times. Most would agree this is not great parenting, and that showed in the young Sylvester. There was no daycare at the time, so that was the best idea they got to “take a break” from their kid. When he was 5 years old, Stallone’s parents got sick of him, so they dropped him off at an elederlly home. Now I realize I made the right choices, but back then I was just a menace. “I wasn’t raised the right way and my brain has always been flipped sideways, it’s the way I’ve interpreted life. In this article, I want to go over 6 crucial lessons from Stallone, and why you should never stop trying and believing in your ideas. In a recent interview on his daughters’ podcast, Stallone went over his life from early beginings to world stardom, and it’s an amazing lesson on what it takes to succeed. “I never saw myself as anything other than misunderstood, like everyone else feels, and looking for my place in the world.” For the first 20 to 30 years of his life, Stallone hit roadblock after roadblock, yet he never gave up trying to find meaning and success in life: Nothing predestined the kid for success, in fact, it was the total opposite. He got bullied at school, started smoking at 13, had attention disorder issues, got kicked out of 13 schools, was sent to military school, studied arts, took dozens of crappy jobs, got nowhere… and then he made Rocky. But before that, things were rough for the young Sylvester. That’s how the actor got his snarling look and slurred speech, which would become his “signature” 30 years later in the first Rocky movie. In the process, they accidentally severed a nerve which caused paralysis in parts of Stallone’s face. When he was born, complications during labor forced doctors to use 2 pairs of forceps. Right from the start, Sylvester Stallone’s life didn’t take the best turn.
